We will have 2 amazing guests for Today!
Let's Meet Tena Lundquist Faust and Shannon Von Eiff!
Shannon is a tireless advocate for homeless cats and kittens in the Houston area. In the last 4 years, she and her team of fosters have been responsible for transporting or finding homes for over 1,000 cats and kittens in and around Houston.
She began working as a veterinary technician at a private practice where she unexpectedly found herself navigating the world of tiny bottle kittens when a litter of 4, 5 day old kittens were abandoned at the clinic. Having been a “dog person” all of her life, she was determined to help those kittens survive and thus began her journey into educating herself as to all of the nuances of neonatal kittens. Those kittens actually never left the Von Eiff household and shared the home of Shannon and veterinarian husband, Dr. Garnett Von Eiff for the next 19 + years. It also spurred her into the role of adoption coordinator for homeless creatures through the veterinary practice.
The Von Eiff family shares their home with 4 dogs, 3 cats and multiple foster animals.
Tena Lundquist Faust’s commitment to homeless animals stretches back more than 15 years, to when she first began advocating for animals in 2003.
Tena went on to cofound the Highland Village Adoption Center, and then served as a founding member of Houston’s BARC Foundation. Since then, Tena has devoted her time to serving as a full-time, volunteer Co-President of Houston PetSet alongside her twin sister, Tama Lundquist.
When Tena isn’t working to save Houston’s stray dogs and cats, she and her husband spend time with their Hurricane Harvey rescue dog, Finnegan and his new brother, Benjamin. Tena’s passion for animals was sparked by her love of her Westie dog of 17 years, Taz.
